OZ Architecture, in conjunction with N.E.S. Inc, provided master planning services for this mixed-use “Town Center” in north Colorado Springs.

The design concept envisions a uniquely identifiable “Town Center” that incorporates a multitude of vertically and horizontally integrated uses. The overall intent was to create a well-used and well-loved pedestrian-oriented place of enduring value that allows merchants, residents, and visitors to walk a few blocks in any direction to shops, restaurants, recreation, cultural, workplace, worship and festival events.

The development program included 800,000 SF retail, 800,000 SF office, 600 room hotel/conference center, water park, cathedral and 1600 residential units. Design Guidelines were prepared to ensure that the goals and vision of Colorado Crossing are realized.

The SW/NE street grid allows all streets to benefit from daylight in the summer and winter, and provides grand views to Pikes Peak and the Front Range. This grid also aligns external streets with internal networks to enhance connectivity.

Subsequent to the October 2005 approval by the City of Colorado Springs, OZ Architecture has provided urban design and architectural design services for a series of site specific Development Plans for the Main Street District, Commercial Districts, and the Residential Districts within the Town Center.

The Village is a walk able, pedestrian-friendly collection of buildings that sits in unswerving view of the entire Front Range. MyAnanda is based upon the idea that the buyer would not only be buying a residence, but buying into a lifestyle designed around the Ayurvedic way of life, sustainable building materials, and living spaces that reflect the soothing qualities of spa design. The Rocky Mountain Deepak Chopra Center and Spa is connected to the Residences and is slated to become a magnet for health and well-being. The Phase I building will appear to be two buildings connected by a bridge, under which visitors may walk north to the linear park, around the Promenade and to the various shops and restaurants. The City of Westminster is an advocate for preserving open space which is abundant with walking and biking trails. MyAnanda will be in close proximity to the future RTD LightRail Transportation system giving residents and visitors seamless access to Denver and Boulder. The development will include ample underground parking, a new Deepak Chopra Spa and Wellness Center on the Promenade level, and 105 residences above it, one third of which will be condo/hotel investment opportunities. Phase II will include another group of owner-occupied residences in a village-like collection of building connected by European-style courtyards and walking paths. The synergy created by the spa, hotel, residences and other nearby retail will dramatically increase the life and vitality of the entire Promenade.

project overview

The Enclave at Axis is designed to complement the Westminster Promenade entertainment district and the employment center at CirclePoint. It will bring a dense retail/office/residential neighborhood in close proximity to the future planned transit station.  The synergy created by these uses along the Westminster edge to the Highway 36 will increase the life and vitality of the entire Promenade.

The architecture is influenced by the ‘high plains” feel of the other buildings in the Promenade complex, and elicit warm memories of small towns throughout the U.S. and Europe.  Building exteriors will be constructed of a variety of materials including brick, cast concrete, stucco, wood/concrete panels, metal and glass.

A crescent shaped building massing along the esplanade will become the pedestrian gateway to the Promenade, encouraging residents and visitors to walk, browse, or stop for a cup of coffee or meal in the shops.  An interior paseo will allow visitors to discover the rest of the neighborhood and the village green.
