Located in the south central part of Cherry Creek School District, the 20-acre Special Programs Center was master planned for three buildings – the Student Achievement Resource Center (SARC), the Nutrition Services Building, and an Alternative Middle/High School (Cherry Creek PREP). In addition to master planning the site, OZ designed both SARC and PREP over a five year period.
The mixed use site was developed with close coordination with Arapahoe County, as the roads adjacent to the site were being designed in conjunction with the master planning activities. The site also contains a regional detention pond that the OZ team designed, with input from the local water district, as part of its planning efforts.
A renovation of a neighborhood elementary school that was built in 1994. The project includes replacement of mechanical systems, a new MDF room, site circulation improvements, lighting upgrades, a new roof, and the installation of a fire sprinkler system. A small addition that accommodates a Special Needs program and a Pre-School room is also planned. Since much of the work will need to be completed while school is in session, careful attention during design will be paid to possible construction phasing plans.
