The Colorado Symphony has called Colorado’s largest concert hall home for the past 30 years.   As the owner of  Boettcher Concert Hall, the City of Denver has recently awarded the team of OZ Architecture and Diamond + Schmitt the hall’s $60 million renovation.  The proposed design features a dramatic glass facade facing Speer Boulevard and an enclosed shoebox hall rising above the current building in the Performing Arts Complex.
The philosophy of a concert-hall design seeks to, “move beyond the city when they step into the hall, where the whole world changes... [the hall] has to have a sense of itself, to see and be seen. We have to make this an occasion. It’s got to be fun and exciting.”

The youth center interior features a wide street-like central corridor with feature spaces on either side, connecting a grand rotunda lobby to the north and "destination" teen spaces at the building center. The major teen rooms feature soaring spaces up to the underside of roof structure. Smaller offices within the larger volume are playfully skewed creating a bright and engaging space. Other rooms off of the main corridor contribute to the dynamic atmosphere with undulating walls and varying corridor widths and ceiling heights.
