U.S.D.A. Regional Animal & Plant Inspection Building

Fort Collins, CO

OZ Architecture was commissioned to design this building for the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service Regional Hub, Center for Epidemiology and Animal Health, and Information Technology Core. The facility has many training rooms and outdoor areas for teamwork. A large emergency management response room accommodates crisis communications and flexible workstations. The facility is also equipped with computer rooms, GIS, animal health monitoring and risk assessment labs, a central library, offices, and support for 344 people to assist in the agency's mission of "protecting American agriculture." Sunshades, light shelves, and high performance glazing are utilized as daylighting strategies to conserve energy. High ceilings with indirect lighting and a central heating and cooling plant contribute to operational efficiency and comfort.
