Pearl Street Center

Boulder, CO

With our client's goal of creating a cohesive, multi-story, multi-building project, OZ Architecture first provided design guidance during the planning process. This three-acre site located at a primary city intersection, needed OZ to coordinate the overall signage, lighting, landscaping and screen wall design. OZ then designed two buildings totaling 30,000 square feet for office and retail, which also houses a bank and drive-up facility. The design of this project reversed the typical retail "U" shape building with the parking in front. Instead, the buildings were placed on the street front with the parking inboard from the buildings and a landscaped screen wall. The site is heavily landscaped with special features, including berms, a central treed bosk, and an open space plaza with a natural rock and waterfall design. The buildings are a mix of a common brick and stucco construction and these same materials were used in the screen wall to create a relationship between the buildings and surrounding landscaping. A festive motif for signs and building edges sets the theme for specialty retail.
