Jim Bershof, Principal at OZ, is Elevated to Fellow of American Institute of Architects

Colorado, April 2010 – James Bershof, FAIA, LEED AP, President of OZ Architecture of Denver, has been elevated to the College of Fellows in the American Institute of Architects (AIA). This honor is awarded to members who have made significant contributions to architecture and society and who have achieved a standard of excellence in the profession. Mr. Bershof ‘s fellowship was won under the category for making the profession of ever-increasing service to society. He will receive his medal of fellowship on June 11, 2010 at the Investiture of Fellows Ceremony during the 2010 National AIA Convention and Design Expo in Miami. Advancement to fellowship is the highest honor bestowed on a member of the AIA. Out of nearly 84,000 AIA members, fewer than 2,600 have been distinguished with the honor of fellowship.

Jim Bershof’s thirty-plus year career has been motivated and directed by his commitment to positively impact the community through architecture, pro-bono work and volunteerism. Jim and his firm OZ Architecture of Denver, which he has served as President for more than 20 years, have now had the privilege of serving more than 20 not-for-profit and community service organizations in the Denver Area. Jim has served as president of the American Institute of Architects in Denver and as a Board Member of the Boys and Girls Club of Metro Denver. In addition, he has led the design of a number of important projects in the Denver community for agencies such as the Denver Public Schools, Denver Public Library, Denver Human Services, Temple Emanuel, and Hillel of Colorado. Mr. Bershof holds undergraduate degrees in design and literature as well as a master’s of architecture from the University of Michigan.
