Gates Corporation
Denver, COOZ was retained by the Gates Corporation to design a new facility for the Worldwide Fluid Power Group's Research and Development division, which has been located in Galesburg, Illinois, Rockford, Illinois and Denver, Colorado. These three facilities have been consolidated into the new facility in southeast Denver. The project included core & shell and interior design of 30,000 square feet of office space and 40,000 square feet of laboratory and prototype production space. The owner had a very strong vision of incorporating a cutting-edge, industrial feel throughout the facility. The design team was tasked with translating the industrial practicality of the products produced into an office environment that is productive, encourages collaboration and presents a high-tech image to clients. In order to achieve these goals, a wide variety of finish materials were used. These included stained concrete floors, rubber/cork flooring, vinyl flooring, solid surface counter tops, concrete counter tops, acrylic panels, cementitious fiber board and aluminum. These materials were chosen not only for their aesthetic appeal but for their performance capabilities in an industrial environment as well.
