Pentax Imaging Company

Fort Collins, CO

This new corporate headquarters for the Pentax Imaging Company included a re-location as well as creation of a co-location for two previously separate divisions. The clean lines throughout the project reflect the precision of the company's products and are complimented with warm colors and textures to create a "soft-tech" look. Orientation of the elevators proved to be a challenge to the reception layout, so as visitors exit the elevator they first see a gallery of photographic images. From the gallery, curved walls open into adjoining spaces leading to the main reception area. Here the design reflects the company's Asian roots with glass details, juxtaposed with a natural split-faced stone to compliment the local setting in the foothills. The natural maple wood floor, accented with walnut, is contrasted with a rich mocha carpet. To compliment the wood floor, a linear wood ceiling is used, softening the lines with the use of a natural, warm material. The opposite break out area features a glass wrapped conference room creating a similar backdrop to the main reception area. Display cases utilizing a cable system with a translucent glass back panel showcase products from both divisions of the company. Since these public areas are located towards the center of the building, great attention is paid to ceiling details and the use of natural and artificial light. Photographic images are a focal point for the company and are highlighted throughout the space. In the open office an anodized aluminum slat wall is used for displaying frequently changed images of different sizes, and clerestory glass extends around all perimeter offices to provide daylight throughout. Views of the foothills to the West and the city to the Wast are featured in the orientation of the Conference Rooms. The Cafe/Breakroom surrounds an outdoor balcony overlooking a river. The Pentax Imaging Company's new facility has contributed to the successful combination of divisions and provides a classic look for an international company's USA headquarters.
