Richard T. Castro Human Services Center

Denver, CO

This 4-1/2-story city government building houses approximately 1,100 employees and was designed with users in mind. The facility includes a 3,500 square foot Childcare Center with an outdoor play area, a community room, a cafeteria with an outdoor deck, a client caf?, a Family Visitation Center, offices, and a computer center. The design goal was to avoid the "institutional" feel of a government building. Bright colors, bold patterns, large murals, modern workstations, wide hallways, large waiting areas, and the use of natural lighting, all help achieve a professional but warm community-supportive atmosphere.
